Rob Mitchell first became interested in pottery
through his studies at Saint Johns River Community
College in Palatka, Florida in the late 60's. Famed Florida potter Charlie Brown was an influence
at that time, and though Rob maintained a fascination
with pottery, he spent the 23 years working as a
firefighter and EMT for the city of Orlando, only
dabbling in pottery though those years.
|
After his retirement in 1993, he turned his full
attention to pottery once again, working as a studio
assistant and learning through his association with
several professional potters. In 2001, after several years of
participation in juried Fine Arts and Craft Fairs, he
began exhibiting at Sydney McKenna Gallery. Rob is
influenced by the flora, fauna and palette of Northern
Florida. He delights in the beauty of his
surroundings and strives to create durable stoneware
that is finely crafted, and shows a sincere appreciation
for his God-given talents. |
Rob's work can be seen, and purchased, at Sydney
